Laverne and I got a wild hair about us last night and ventured to our local cinema to go see The Wolfman. We both got excited about the elements of this film: talented actors, excellent story, potentially amazing effects. Well friends, I hate to admit it but this movie was a good try but missed the mark.
From the plot line being far too obvious to the effects being mediocre, I just couldn’t be mystified by one to not notice the other {Avatar}. I had so many questions during and at the end of this one but the main one being how much of the film ended up on the cutting room floor? Additionally, and worth noting, where was the budget from visual effects moved to? The set? The trained dog?
All in all folks, I say don’t waste your dough.
In this economy, keep paying your cable bill and FX will show it soon enough.
Grade: D, Does not meet expectations.

Moment of Truth
It’s cold outside and in my experience, nothing gives more on a hard/cold day than a nice glass of scotch/whiskey. Which is why when I read this quote from Hollywood badass Rip Torn I felt obligated to share.
“When you die and go to heaven, you’ll say hello to God, and when God says hello, this is what you’ll smell on his breath.”
Assuming I, with fingers crossed, make it to heaven. I pray this is true.

Needing a jolt of something fresh after wearing my boots for what seems like daily, stupid weather, I stumbled upon these. I love the use of color, materials as well as nice construction. I will be on the lookout for these and will post when I find out where they are sold. See the rest of the Spring 2010 collection here…well priced between $55 & $85 a pair.

Rihanna } Rude Boy
I had my doubts when I first hear Rihanna’s new album, Rated R. I felt like it might be a lot of pop sugar with no grit or jungle dancehall like we first heard from her. Well there is still some of that sucrose, but then there is Rude Boy. A playful grinnuendo with girlswag style with a tinge of glitch electro that is quite refreshing, it’s the one track I keep revisiting. Then there is the video that shows Rihanna’s commitment to her roots in Barbados as well as fashion, color and art. Excellent compliments to an all around solid sex laden pop song.

Style } Envy
The Sartorialist inspires. Many of his posts show the beauty within male fashion, but the women he chooses to shoot are always unique and completely captivating. I love his description…”The thing with Alessandra is, when I think of how to describe her style I wouldn’t use descriptions of her favorite colors, proportions or genres. I would have to use terms like sexy, approachable, androgynous, playful. Funny how someones personality can actually become their style…”

Design } Hats Off
Recently found this interview with DJ Neff regarding his work with the revitalization of the Chiquita Banana brand/stickers/website. Pretty interesting to read about creative process and client interaction when your client is a banana company. In particular, I really like this question/response from the interview:
What were your client’s goals, and how did this project help communicate them?
The client’s goals were kind of like that dream brief you get handed that simply says: “Make bananas cool.”
